Editor’s Note / Update

After our original article was published, Bode’s Corned Beef House shared an official clarification regarding their closure and future plans. We want to ensure the Plymouth community has the most accurate information available.

Below is a statement directly from Bode’s Corned Beef House, shared with the community:

Edit to Add
We would like to sincerely apologize to the Plymouth community regarding the closing of Bode’s Corned Beef House. We would never intentionally mislead, misrepresent, or spread false information if we knew the full intent of the new owners. We were under the impression it was closing for good and going to be a different restaurant with a different name. We are sure the Plymouth community, and neighboring communities, will be pleased with the news and will love and support the new renovations and ownership.

This is an end to our era at Bode’s. We will still be having a fundraiser on the 15th to support our staff through the holiday season and also to say goodbye to the people who have supported us through the past six years.

BODE ON!

It is with the deepest sadness and heaviest of hearts that we announce Bode’s Corned Beef House will be closing its doors on December 19th, 2025. This is not something we would have chosen or were expecting, but the owners of the building have sold it to a new company.

We are heartbroken to be unable to serve the Plymouth community for longer, but are so grateful for six decades of watching families gather and children grow up. We hope to open Bode’s Corned Beef House again if the fates allow, but until that opportunity arises, we want you to know how much we value you as a guest. We’re so thankful for your patience and understanding during this time, and we truly treasure the shared experiences and laughter with all of you.

As you can imagine, being forced to close right before the Christmas holiday is a tough blow. We hope you’ll join us on December 15th for a Christmas party fundraiser to support our staff during this difficult time. Doors will be open from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with $20 admission per person. Food and drinks will be available.

We encourage you to visit us in these last weeks and have one last corned beef meal as an homage to Bode’s.

Once again, thank you for contributing to the memories we’ve made at Bode’s Corned Beef House. It has been an honor serving you.

— David and the rest of the Bode’s family

After an incredible 66 years of serving the community, Bodes Corned Beef House has announced it will permanently close its doors. The beloved Main Street staple shared the news in a heartfelt Facebook post this past weekend, confirming that Friday, December 19th, will be their final day of operation.

For generations of Plymouth residents, Bodes wasn’t just a restaurant — it was part of the town’s rhythm.

More Than a Restaurant

For more than six decades, Bodes has been far more than a place to grab a meal. It was a meeting point. A backdrop for birthdays, post-game dinners, family traditions, and everyday moments that turned into lifelong memories.

Families gathered there. Kids grew up there. Regulars were greeted by name. And the corned beef became more than a menu item — it became a tradition.

As the Bodes family shared, “We are deeply saddened to no longer be able to serve the Plymouth community, but we are incredibly thankful for the six decades of watching families come together, and children grow up.” Those words echo exactly what so many in the community are feeling.

Why Bodes Is Closing

The decision to close was not made lightly, nor was it driven by a lack of community support. According to the family, the closure is the result of the sale of the building, a circumstance beyond their control.

That reality makes the goodbye even harder — because Bodes wasn’t fading away. It was still very much a living part of Plymouth.

Despite the heartbreak, the family shared a hopeful note, expressing that they would love to reopen Bodes Corned Beef House again if circumstances allow in the future. Until then, they expressed deep gratitude to the countless guests who had supported them over the years.

“This is not just a restaurant closing,” many locals have noted. “It’s the end of a chapter.”

A Community Responds

Since the announcement, social media has filled with stories and photos — first jobs, favorite servers, weekly routines, and long conversations shared over plates of comfort food. The response is a powerful reminder that small, family-owned businesses don’t just exist in a town… they help define it.

Bodes witnessed decades of milestones — and in return, Plymouth embraced it as part of its identity.

Supporting the Staff

In a heartwarming show of appreciation for the team that made Bodes what it is, the restaurant is also hosting a Christmas Party fundraiser for its employees.

  • Date: Monday, December 15th

  • Time: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Cost: $20 admission

  • Includes: Food and beverages

The event offers the community a chance to show gratitude and support the staff who have served Plymouth so faithfully over the years — a meaningful way to celebrate one last time and say goodbye.

One Last Visit

As the final days approach, many residents are stopping in for one more meal — to soak in the familiar atmosphere, to say thank you, and to take part in something that meant so much for so long.

Because while buildings change and businesses close, places like Bodes never truly leave. They live on in stories, traditions, and shared memories.

Thank You, Bodes

Thank you to the Bodes family for 66 years of dedication, heart, and hospitality. Thank you for feeding generations of Plymouth residents and creating a space where the community thrived.

Main Street won’t feel quite the same without you — but your legacy will always be part of Plymouth’s story.
